The Most Important Meal of the Day

You may have heard the phrase, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Is it true? Yes. Let’s analyze some of the reasons why it is important to start off ALL your mornings with a good, healthy breakfast.

1) It gives you the ENERGY you need to start your day.

When you eat a satisfying breakfast packed with nutrient-dense foods like good carbs, healthy fats, vegetables, fruits, whole grains and protein, you will feel full longer. These foods give your body the fuel it needs to perform all the tasks you expect out of it every day. With better fuel comes better functioning!

2 ) It improves BRAIN functioning.

Research shows that memory and concentration improves if you eat a healthy breakfast. This means kids will do better at school, your performance at work will increase, you will be more efficient with your day, etc.

3 ) It will help you maintain a healthier WEIGHT.

A good breakfast within the first hour of waking up gets your metabolism working, and therefore, prepares it for the rest of the day. A good, functioning metabolism means that your body is stimulated and is ready to burn calories in an efficient manner.

4 ) Research shows that those who eat breakfast tend to make healthier CHOICES throughout the day.

If you practice healthy habits at the start of your day, it is much easier to keep them going versus trying to go backwards and correct bad eating habits after they’ve started. If you feel good in the morning, you might want to head to the gym, take the stairs over the elevator, eat a lighter lunch, and more.

5 ) It improves Long-Term HEALTH.

Diabetes or not, breakfast helps control blood sugar levels. It also supports heart (cardiovascular) health and like point #4, helps prevent obesity.
